Care Love Hope

Author note: This is to improve my word choice and sentence fluency. It is a persuasive essay on why I think animals shouldn’t be killed or harmed for their fur.


Did you know each year; more than 40 million animals are killed for their fur? Rabbits, chinchillas, foxes, bobcats, minks and many more other mammals are slaughtered for the profit of poachers. Just the fact of knowing that people kill animals for their fur, doesn’t it make you sick? This means that we can only get fur from animals without harming them for example getting wool can be shaved from sheep, a natural painless process.There are plenty of reasons why killing animals for their fur should be illegal even if it happens to be hunting season. We should protect animals not purposely harm them.

Even though having a fur coat is pretty cool, wearing something that has fur on it makes you even “cooler”, for an animal to wear that is. The process of getting the fur has so much pain involved. Fur farmers get away with cramming minks, foxes, raccoons, and chinchillas into tiny, filthy wire cages where they stay for months up to years, unable to run or play or enjoy any freedom, family, or friendship. They are commonly exposed to snow and sleet in winter and scorching heat in summer and instead of proper food, they eat slop. They receive minimal water, and the animals are killed in frightening, cruel, and most of all, painful ways. Not to mention how the farmers catch the wild animals. Poachers have to set traps up to catch the animals. Something worse than that is they leave the animals in the traps to suffer for days, in all types of weather. The animals grow very hungry and thirsty before some farmers even try to kill them. Many are animals are skinned alive, how barbaric. Sometimes even dogs or cats are caught in the traps by accident!


In addition of animals being caged captured tortured and killed in gruesome farms, since fur these days are looking to be more and more of a fashion trend it has been endangering and threatened species. Many factories keep taking in more and more animals and threaten many different mammals’ species. With certain animals being killed every day there is no hope for them. The factories do this for their satisfaction they don’t think about how many animal families they are harming.

Finally, to protect our animals it is only when people stop buying fur that the fur trade will cease to exist. Do not buy any fur or fur trimmed products and before you purchase anything that looks like fur, be sure to ask the retailer whether or not it is real before making any transaction. You could also buy fake fur, It’s even better because you can’t harm animal and it cost less!


In conclusion anyone can help no matter what laws this country may have. The world should be a place to protect animals stops the fur farms, fur factories and the people buying the fur. It’s cruel and overall disgusting those are the plenty of reasons why killing animals for their fur should be illegal with many supportive reasons. Thank you and please take this in consideration next time you buy real fur.
