Favorite Childhood Memory

Do you remember when you got your first pet? When my fourth birthday hit i got my first pet ever she was a chocolate lab about 3 years old i got her from the humane society which is good because they help stop animal cruelty. Her name was strange something like Neko don't remember for sure though. It took about a week before all of us could agree on a name.We all made a decision that Brandy was a good fit for her.

All though picking out a name was the hard part next came the first day we meet her .Before bringing her home the whole family had to meet Brandy she was kind of shy but really hyper, maybe because she was in the cage for such a long period of time. Brandy was a great family dog we could all tell. Super nice to all of us and had a genital playful side to her, exactly what we where looking for.As my family and i agreed that this dog was plenty good enough for our house hold we payed the 100 and some dollars.

First meeting her was only one step we got her in the car and we drove back home as Brandy hopped out of the car with excitement she ran inside exploring the whole house all you could hear is the clicking of her nails running up and down the stairs. As time went by she got use to her new home and us.Then about 8 years later the tragedy happened.... she was getting older just like people do and at first it was just her hip, then it turned into something bigger then just arthritis. When we went to the vet they told us she has a chance of having bone cancer and that we should keep our options open. At that point my connections with Brandy were really strong that i didn't want to lose her because, if you ever have lost a pet before it isn't something you want to happen they are more then just a pet but a friend. When my family and me waited for the vet to call back and let us know the results everyone was pretty much pretending like nothing is wrong except for my mom she was almost in tears. All i could do is just hope she would be okay.About a week later the vet did call and we found out that our poor 10 year old dog had bone cancer.

Like the vet said best thing to do is keep our options open we tried medication but, we could tell that brandy was still in pain. We all wanted her to be happy. Brandy was there for more then half my life as a child and i couldn't imagine being without her but, i didn't want to be selfish at time like this so as a family we all had to agree that the best thing for her was to put her down. To this day i still miss her,but you have to realize shes in a better place and no matter how much she means to you sooner or later you are going to need to let go.One of the reasons it was my best favorite childhood memory because, she was my big part of my life.
